Avascular necrosis (AVN)

































Avascular necrosis (AVN) 
Blood supply to the femoral head is damaged causing the bone to die.
Radiographs and MRI scan of both hips. Right hip shows AVN. -


Left hip shows normal signal

Hip arthroscopy showing articular flap causing mechanical catching and giving way of the hip joint.

Removal of articular flap and smoothing of edges. The patient had significant improvement in symptoms to enable return to work.
